Worker consent statement
What a worker agrees to before anything about them can be found or shown on FIDES.
Fides Identification Limited · effective from 1 October 2026 · version cfcbf0a14da8
What you're agreeing to
- Identity. Your ID document and selfie are checked by Stripe Identity. Your record is tied to your legal name and date of birth, so it can't be confused with anyone else's.
- Employment history. You declare your full history in care and support work. We check it against the source documents you give us, such as payslips or an IRD income summary, then delete those documents and keep only the history.
- References from every employer. Every employer on your history is invited to complete a structured reference check about you. Organisations and families who engage you can also answer five standard questions about you. A reference counts only once we've confirmed they actually engaged you.
- Being findable. A verified organisation or family who searches your exact legal name and date of birth can see that you have a FIDES profile, and nothing else. To see more, they have to ask you.
- Safety concerns. If a referee raises a safety concern, a person at FIDES reviews it before it forms part of your record. You'll see every concern raised about you, without the referee's name, and you can reply to it. Your reply is shown alongside it.
- Keeping records. We keep your record after you stop using FIDES, as set out in the Privacy Policy. Safety concerns are kept while they're relevant to safety. Where there are serious grounds, we may permanently exclude a worker, after telling them the reasons and hearing their response.
What you control
- Who sees your record. Each organisation or family has to ask, and you say yes or no to each one. Once you say yes, they see your whole record. You can't choose which parts they see, because a record that leaves things out isn't a reference.
- Whether you can be found. You can switch discoverability off at any time. Searchers will then get the same "no match" result as for someone who isn't on FIDES. You can still invite a specific organisation or family to see your record from your dashboard.
- Withdrawing a yes. You can withdraw an organisation's or family's access at any time from your dashboard.
What withdrawing does and doesn't do
Withdrawing stops anyone seeing your record from that point on. It doesn't undo what someone has already seen, and it doesn't delete references or safety concerns already on your record. To ask us to correct or delete something, see the Privacy Policy.
Saying no is your choice. Some organisations may ask for a FIDES record as part of hiring. That's their decision, not ours.
Criminal record checks
Ministry of Justice criminal record checks and Police vets aren't available on FIDES yet. Once they are, each one will need your consent to that specific request: who's asking, for which role, and on what date. Agreeing to this statement never counts as consent to a check.
